Continuing the McIntosh tradition of innovation and exceptional performance, the MC402 is rated to deliver a hefty 400 watts per channel in stereo or 800 watts in mono. Its extraordinary, distortion-canceling, quad-differential design consists of four complete amplifier circuits, whose outputs are combined in the unique McIntosh-crafted autoformers. This delivers absolute transparency and musical accuracy into loads of 2, 4, or 8-Ohms.

The new three-dimensional glass faceplate design of the MC402 adds elegance, while the illuminated peak-responding meters show the true output, regardless of load. And its power guard indicators, remote power control and fiber-optic light diffuser illumination round out an impressive feature list. It’s easy to see why this 2-channel power amplifier was given The Absolute Sound Editor's Choice Award 2005.

A waveform comparison circuit continuously monitors both input and output signals. Power Guard dynamically adjusts the input level to avoid clipping while preventing harsh sounding distortion.

SENTRY MONITOR^TM

Fuse-less short-circuit protection circuit disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating level – resets automatically.

OUTPUT AUTOFORMER^TM

Unique McIntosh technology delivers the full rated amplifier output with the least possible distortion into loudspeaker impedances of 2, 4, or 8 Ohms; you get all the power you paid for and the freedom to choose any loudspeaker.
