Stream On with the "Outstanding" MB50 Streaming Audio Player

Awarded 5 out of 5 Globes.

Transform your home audio system into a wireless audio system with the MB50 Streaming Audio Player. The MB50 features DTS Play-Fi® technology to give you the freedom and flexibility to wirelessly play your music at home anyway you want over your existing Wi-Fi network. While utilizing DTS Play-Fi streaming capabilities, the MB50 delivers the legendary McIntosh sound quality and performance found in our other home audio products.

Hi-Fi World reviewer Jon Myles says while the MB50 may be relatively small in comparison to the size of other McIntosh products, "it has the traditional big, bold, beautifully solid McIntosh sound" with a "firmness and punch to the bass." On Tony Lakatos’s tenor saxophone solo in With A Little Help From My Friends on a Beatles tribute album, the MB50 captured "all the nuances of his fingering, as well as the hard-edged timbre of the instrument" with a "lovely organic sound" that weaved all the instruments together "into a totally captivating whole."

MB50 shown with MXA80 Integrated Audio System and MCT80 SACD/CD Transport. All units sold separately.

Then with choral music from Ars Nova Copenhagen’s First Drop, there was "a deep, vibrant tone with the individual voices picked out beautifully to create a sensuous sound palette." This was a feat the MB50 "reproduced on all forms of music, from acoustic jazz to pounding rock and dance music" and did it "without a hint of digital sharpness."

Myles says the MB50 could be one of McIntosh's "most innovative products" in a few years and could "turn even the most die-hard sceptic of streaming music into a convert... It's smooth, rich, and powerful in its sound and boasts McIntosh’s renowned build quality, making it a joy to own and use."

Awarded 5 out of 5 Globes.
